Red Viper
Bart Veeze: “Red Viper is a mega talent!”
Red Viper, a very elegant stallion who attracted attention in Warendorf by winning the two-day Minitest with a top score of 8.8.
Red Viper was bred by Coen Kerbert from Enschede and descends from the Grand Prix stallion Romanov Blue Hors. He comes out of the two-time World Cup mare Zolena. The Elite, EPTM, PROK, sport mare was crowned in 2008 as best mare in the Pavo Cup. A year later, under Annerein Kerbert, the mare was the big surprise of the World Championship for Young Dressage Horses in Verden. The pair was the best Dutch combination in the selection round and the pair finished thirteenth in the final. In the sport Zolena competed up to and including ZZ-Licht level under the saddle of Christien Kerbert. Red Viper is her fifth offspring and was the auction topper of the Borculose foal auction at the time. Zolena is also the dam of the MNK mare My Lena (by Blue Hors Zack) who finished sixth in the Pavo Cup for four-year-olds under Bart Veeze. My Lena, in combination with the stallion Kyton, produced the offspring Rylena, who became reserve champion at the 2021 KWPN national foal selection.
At the base of Red Viper's dam line is the keur preferente performance mare Urona. This line produces approved stallions, including the KWPN stallions High Five U.S. (s. Charmeur) and Knock Out (s. Ebony), the Oldenburg stallion Blue Hors First Choice (s. Jazz), the NRPS stallion Adonius (s. Apollonius xx), the AES stallions Adonnis (s. Gribaldi) and Leonardo (by Hitmaker) and Viking (by Vivaldi) approved in Westphalia.
Many dressage horses that are classified at Z2 and higher also come from this family, including five Grand Prix horses such as Axel (by Sandreo), Junimond (by Jazz), Zodiak (by San Remo), Nurona (by Partout) and Markant (s. Michelangelo).
Red Viper ran a great mini test in Warendorf the summer of 2022, passing a lot of big names, including the Westphalian champion. In the test, Red Viper was presented by Bart Veeze, he did exactly what was asked of him. Red Viper received an 8.8 for the walk, an 8.5 for the trot, a 9 for the canter, an 8.8 for rideability and a 9 for attitude and willingness to work. With an average of 8.8, the dark chestnut scored the highest points.
The jury's comment was positive. “The trot has a lot of expression, with a nice use of the frontleg. The canter has a lot of balance, self carriage and is uphill, with a very good use of the hind leg. The walk is spacious and relaxed through the body. As for the rideability: the stallion reacts very positively to the aids of the test rider. The stallion has a very good attitude and a great willingness to work. He reacted well to the helpers and always reacted very naturally.”
Red Viper is stationed at the Landgestüt in Warendorf this breeding season.
